Stage 1 – Contents of the Package

Inside the packaging of grow kits in Poland, you won’t find instructions, as they are intended for microscopic research. However, you may discover a plastic bag and clips. To maintain the quality of the grow kit, after receiving the package, store it in the refrigerator as soon as possible.

Stage 2 – Maintaining Hygiene

Sanitize your hands or put on disposable gloves.

Stage 3 – Preparations

Expose the plastic packaging of the grow kit. You have the option to puncture the substrate with a previously sterilized fork in several spots to a depth of roughly half a centimeter to aid water absorption. However, this step is not obligatory.

Stage 4 – Water

Fill the kit with lukewarm water up to the brim of the box (around 20º C). Put on the lid and leave the GrowKit for 1 hour. You can utilize pre-boiled or distilled water.

Stage 5 – Removing the Lid

After an hour, remove the lid and pour off any excess water.

Stage 6 – Placing it in the Bag!

Subsequently, place the box with the grow kit inside the provided plastic bag from the kit, without the lid!

Stage 7 – Be Cautious!

The bag should be situated AROUND THE BOX, not INSIDE THE BOX! Pour a cup of pre-boiled or distilled water, the bag will not leak, and the box will be standing in the water.

Stage 8 – Final Adjustments

Fold the bag at the top twice and secure it with a clamp or clip. Refrain from blowing into it to prevent the introduction of bacteria or viruses into the grow kit. This process must be carried out in sterile conditions. A minor error could affect the yields. The mycelium is delicate, and how you handle it will impact its development.

Stage 8 – Wrapping in Foil

Position the box in the foil within the lower carton. Remember to recycle the packaging. The carton should be placed where it won’t receive direct sunlight, but it should still get some light. The room temperature should range from 22 to 25 degrees Celsius.

Stage 9 – Show Respect

Give a name to the future mushroom. It might seem amusing, but not for those who have already undertaken this process. As a cultivator, you’re making first contact with the substrate, initiating this journey. The name might hold significance for the future relationship.

Stage 10 – Patience for Up to Two Weeks

Over the next two weeks, refrain from peeking inside, allowing the mycelium to flourish. During this period, the grow kit requires ample CO2; your presence isn’t necessary.

Stage 11 – What Comes Next

After approximately 2 weeks, small mushrooms should emerge as the initial fruits. At this point, the grow kit demands your attention. Open it a few times each day (3-4 times). Remove the clamp, attempt to circulate air within. Be careful not to exhale into it; always disinfect your hands. Humidity in the air is crucial. You can moisten the foil in the bag with boiled or distilled water, but avoid spraying the mushrooms; only dampen the wall of the bag so that droplets become visible.

Stage 12 – Harvesting Mushrooms

After a few days, the mushrooms should have grown to a substantial size. It’s crucial not to overlook the moment when the caps open. Gather the mushrooms without cutting or pulling them out. If the caps open too wide, they might release spores, weakening the developing mycelium.

Stage 12 – Second Harvest

Assuming you were able to harvest the yield in time, repeat the process from step 6. You can soak the grow kit about 4 times. The yields will be smaller, but they will still be there. Dried fruits will be sufficient for several journeys and for sharing with trusted friends.

Cultivation is a demanding endeavor; it’s not a leisurely walk on the beach. It necessitates proper knowledge and unwavering commitment.
